Z!NK magazine asked me to create a beauty story for their fall issue. I drew lots of inspiration from sci-fi thrillers like Alien, Space Odyssey 2001, Sunshine, and Moon. Yeah I am kind of a dork, but the end result is pretty awesome. It is by far one of my favorite beauty stories that I have ever done. I had a really amazing crew involved. We used the Violent Lips series of lip tattoos and Minx nail art. Dominic Elias applied the lip tattoos and makeup. The story is featured in the new issue of Running With Heels.

The LA Weekly recently hired me to shoot The Game for their most recent cover story. It was a really awesome shoot! The concept was to make the girls look like trophies so I had them body painted in gold. I put together a glam squad consisting of Dominic Elias on body paint and Noogie on hair. The Game came into the studio; al 6'4" of him. And I thought I was tall. After getting him out of wardrobe i asked him how he would like me to address him and he replied, "Call me Megatron." So Megatron and I created some really timeless imagery.

I had the pleasure of working with Danessa Myricks while at The Makeup Show in New York. I was asked to be a judge for the Ruby Kisses makeup challenge. It is basically a web series similar to that of a reality competition where in each round the makeup artists are given a specific challenge and then they are judged accordingly. After each round, a contestant is eliminated. It was extremely fun to be a part of this and I am really happy with the way that the series turned out. And my hair looks good on TV. A special thanks goes out to my fellow judges Victoria Stiles, Kevin James Bennett, and Koren.

Jon is a fantastic makeup artist out of Vancouver. I wanted to work with a real New York style model so I contacted Q Model Management to work with one of their girls. The model that they sent is named Naoumie and she was fantastic. She was a perfect person to work with Jon and I.

I recently went to The Makeup show in NYC a few weeks ago. I was teaching another class with John Hennessey as well as a few other things. I was a judge for a web series with Danessa Myricks. It was kind of like Chopped on the Food Network. There were 4 makeup artists who had a series of challenges. After each challenge, someone was eliminated. I will for sure post once it starts coming out. I also was on one of the artist panels where I was addressing audience questionse about portfolios, getting work, and finding agents. Shortly after, I sat with artists and reviewed portfolios. It was an extensive event! The trade show was the biggest I had ever seen it and the classes are fully booked!

I alos got to see some of the Cinema Secrets work I had done. They had it at their booth. I also saw the Make Up For Ever booth with my images in the background. .

I worked to help re-brand the new Cinema Secrets beauty line. With the help of key makeup artist Valerie Hernandez, we developed a series of looks that we shot over 2 days. It yielded an incredible amount of content for them and they all turned out stunningly! I cant wait to see the implemented on their website. It was an honor and a pleasure to have worked with a company with so much history in the industry!

This was the 3rd year that I attended The Makeup Show here in LA and it just keeps getting better and better! I taught a class with Jon Hennessey called Understanding Photography. There was an opening party where Maurice Stein of Cinema Secrets was given a lifetime achievement award. The trade show was also stellar with companies like Cinema Secrets, Make Up For Ever, OCC, and Youngblood just to name a few. I always have a great time at these events because I get to see all of my friends. Who doesn't like working with their friends?

Beauty Etc picked up one of my beauty stories for their spring issue. Beauty Etc has some really great artists in the magazine so it is an honor to be amongst them! This was a Blade Runner inspired shoot for the spring issue. I marveled at the huge, lit billboards in the movie, which was the inspiration for the set. Leibi Carias took it to the next level with her Makeup and Sienree Du did a really gravity defying job on the sleek hair. Ashton Michael was the brainchild behind most of the outfits. Can you see those nails!? Naja, you are really amazing!

I recently worked with actress Katherine Boecher (The Closer, Heroes, The Spy Next Door and all those Virgin Mobile commercials that have been on lately) to create some glamour images. She really looks amazing, doesn't she?! She was so easy to work with and had one of the best attitudes that I have ever encountered on set. Our dogs got along great and she even brought some killer Trader Joe's salsa that i was not privy to.

I shot the spring fashion editorial for Zooey Magazine. It was totally 60's inspired. I made everyone watch the Woodstock documentary over and over throughout this shoot. I couldn't get Joe Cocker out of my head for days... but that's not really a bad thing I guess.

I shot for Zooey magazine out of San Francisco. We shot at The Charlie Hotel in West Hollywood which is a hidden little gem. We shot within the property and took full advantage of the huge garden that they have. I thought that it made for a real ethereal kind of environment for a 60's inspired shoot. I actually learned a lot while researching the 60's era as I really didnt know any more than the Wonder Years had taught me. Final images to follow...

This series has been getting a good amount of press lately. The idea was a collaboration between myself and Naja Rickett, manicurist to the stars and owner of Extremedys. We decided to do a series of nails made up of summer colors. The idea of the food was a way to showcase the nails with an erotic twist to keep it a bit more interesting. Leibi Carias did the makeup.

Here are a few behind the scenes photos from the Little Rooms Cryptid Collection shoot. We shot at the Old Zoo in Griffith Park which was a bit f a challenge because of the difficulties of shooting on location. We shot at various sports throughout the park and basically exhausted the sun to where we had to load in the dark. It was a long day to say the least, but good work doesn't come easy.

The Makeup Show in NYC!

I just returned from New York City where I was at The Makeup Show, a massive trade show full of makeup companies and educational classes. My good friend James Vincent and Shelly Taggar of the Metropolitan Events Pavilion had me come out for the event. I taught a class with renown makeup artist Jon Hennessey. It was in intro class for makeup artists that wanted to experience an editorial shoot. Jon performed some makeup demos and then I shot each model under strobe lighting and digitally brought the image up on a large monitor so that students could see their work first hand. Its really amazing to see how much detail you miss after a couple of strobe heads pop an image to life. The class emphasized the attention to detail and versatility that an editorial makeup artist should posses. The class was fantastic and everyone had a really good time. The students walked away with a lot of information and a really valuable experience. The Show itself had an endless trade show of makeup companies who were showcasing their new products and doing plenty of demos.

In an attempt at simplifying my style a little bit, I am shooting some simple fashion stories. I have been told that my style is a bit too complex and expensive to entice a fashion magazine. So here it is: one light, one look, minimal retouching.

On Makeup Magazine Spring 2010! Tron: Legacy inspired beauty story

I have been working on this story for a while now. My friend Nick Miramontes and I created the backgrounds with a little help from Silverlake Design. With the new Tron: Legacy movie coming out this winter, we decided to create something that was inspired by the vector designs in the original film. The backgrounds are what really resemble the original 80's graphic design of the Tron game. The grid is an obvious symbol that the movie used, especially with the bike race scenes. The circles, or bulls-eye, was used in the movie when the characters were playing jai-alai, a totally 80's sport that you may have also seen in the opening credits of Miami Vice. The rest of the backgrounds were made of random circuit board and geometric patterns. It was really important that the design of the backgrounds, makeup, and wardrobe were all very geometric to keep within the style of the original computer generated graphics.

With the new Tron: Legacy being released this year, I incorporated the style of the movie into a beauty shoot for On Makeup Magazine. My friend Nick Miramontes and I spent a day studying the style that Tron was a reflection of in the early 80's. Being huge nerds, we only thought it fitting to try and replicate the simplistic, geometric design into the backgrounds of our shoot. I shot the beauty while Nick did the product photography. These are just behind the scenes photos, but hopefully it will give you a good visual description of the end result.

It has been a long time coming but I finally got around to creating an updated version of my portfolio. With a lot more work to add, the former version was almost obsolete by the time this new one rolled out. My good friend Andrew Nilsen has been designing my new campaign. Along with the book will come business cards, mailers, and in the future, a newly designed website.

Beauty story in Vampd Magazine!

Vampd Magazine printed my beauty story in this month's Skin and Sass issue. This magazine is run really well and has some really great fashion and beauty content that is really hip and relevant! My friend James Vincent was the makeup artist on this shoot. We used over-sized magnifying glasses to bring the key parts of the face closer to the viewer.

Miles Kurosky solo record!

My good friend Miles Kurosky of the band Beulah fame, is releasing his first solo record this month. I shot some images for him a few years ago and this one ended up being used for his promo material by Shout Factory. Don't ask him about the Steelers this year. Miles and I took a trip to the Warner Brothers prop and costume shop to find things for his shoot.

LA Kings Ice Crew feature in 4th Period Magazine and the Blitz Weekly!!

The good people at the LA Kings hockey club worked with 4th Period Magazine to create a feature for their Ice Crew. These were images that we shot in the fall with their team uniforms. The magazine created a 3-page pull out for the girls and it looks great! It is in issue #003.

The Ice Crew also had another feature in the Blitz Weekly, another magazine dedicated to hockey.

This was shot back in December and I ahve been anxiously awaiting the results! Nobody wore prom dresses as luxurious as these when I was in high school. They were very glamorous and regal which lent itself to the whimsical vibe. It's on newsstands now, so if you want to be one of the first girls in your school to get a first look at the sweetest dresses of the new decade then pick it up. Also, make sure to carry it with you so you can point out which dress you bought in front of your friends and enemies. I mean, showing up to the dance in the same dress as someone else?
