Angell Conwell (Family Time, The Young and the Restless) has to be one of the sweetest, most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. I shot her for the cover of Black Health Magazine.
Life can be a drag at times...literally. Earlier this week I had the distinct pleasure of being featured on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars as the challenge photographer. I have been working behind the scenes since the show started and it was finally nice to be in front of the camera. The Queens were a blast to shoot! Each of them has a really distinct and unique personality. The first photo challenge (Half Baked) was incredibly interesting because the Queens could only do half of their makeup for the shoot. It revealed a lot more of their personality out of drag and stripped them down to their rawest form. They poured out an ample amount of sensitivity in the images that captured a lot of their inner beauty.
The second photo challenge was incredible! The crew at World of Wonder had created a set with black and white boxes (opposites attract) and then rigged rain spouts above the set to spray the queens with either clear or black water. The Queens had a few minutes to move around the set and pose together. It yielded some results that were funny as hell as their makeup and hair began to melt! I mean, how do you look fabulous in the rain?!
A special thanks to Mathu Andersen, Logo, World of Wonder and of course RuPaul for the opportunity to be a part of this. I hope to be back next season!
